For many of our Board members, today was one of the best days we have had in the past year and a half. Today we were able to deliver a check to Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) in the amount of $27,828.00 to offset the cost of the staff for the lunch program being offered at the Senior Center. This will help insure the continuity of the program and keep the cost of lunches as low as possible.
We were also able to write checks totaling $19,509.82 to purchase additional equipment and furnishings for the kitchen. The money to purchase this equipment was not available in the City’s budget or in QCC’s budget for the lunch program.
How did we do it?
We didn’t. You did. It was the generous support of our corporate, grant, and individual donors that provided the funds to allow us to give back to the seniors who have given so much to our community. That is why your support of the Friends No Show Event is so important.
What we do know is that there is a financial need. Whether that need comes in the form of emergency assistance for a senior at risk, transportation for an isolated senior, funding for a program at the Senior Center, funding for the monthly newsletter, or the purchase of equipment, the need is there. You help fill the gaps. We are only stewards of the generous donations that you entrust to our care.
Please consider purchasing your ticket today or purchasing a table for our event. I hope you take this in the right way, but I hope not to see you there.
