September 2026: A Note from the Friends & Seed-to-Table Harvest

“The name September comes from the Latin word septem ('seven'), as it was originally the seventh month in the earliest Roman calendar. It only became the ninth month when January and February were added to the start of the year. The month where we look forward to cooler temperatures and turning leaves. Happy Fall!”

In the September 2026 issue, Executive Director Trish Pope celebrated the full-circle success of the Senior Center’s “Seed to Table” gardening program: seedlings and greenhouse supplies funded by the Friends of the Marlborough Seniors in March yielded fresh vegetables, edible flowers, and herbs all summer and autumn long for Chef Cindy Loughlin’s Monday and Friday Center Grille lunches.
